VIII. one environment.

Final Environment:
week seven

final environment development combined with textures.

A space framed by rough jagged mountains which reflect the chaotic, apocalyptic approach of Lebbeus Wood's work.  The monuments situated precariously on the cliffs further capture the hostile environment.

The curvilinear monument to SANAA provides retribution to students from the harsh landscape in which it is settled. The soft rounded landscape helps to provide a sanctuary. The simplistic layout allows for greater collaboration due to space.

The mountainous terrain provides shading to the space during the afternoon sun. It creates harsh shadows which are neutralised by the natural curves of the space and the monument. Further, the situation of Lebbeus Wood's monument makes it seem during the afternoon that the curves of SANAA's monument creates a rectilinear shadow.

I chose the heavy texture as seen above on the hanging element of the monument to reflect Lebbeus Wood's concepts. It reflects his development of architecture which disregarded the ground plane. Medium texture is added to the beam connecting this element to further enforce Wood's challenge of gravity and conventional understandings.
